The “Nephilim”

Genesis 4:19 Lamech married two women, one named Adah and the other Zillah.

The first time polygamy occurred. And guess what, God did not have a problem with it!

Genesis 5:24 Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.

If God can take one person into heaven without him having to die, why can he not take the rest of humanity too? Or is there a quota that only allows for a certain number of people every few thousand years to be granted entrance into heave without having to die? Why do the rest of us have to suffer and die while one man does not have to? Does this seem like a just and merciful God?

Genesis 6 1 When men began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them, 2 the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose. 3 Then the LORD said, "My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal; his days will be a hundred and twenty years." 4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.

“Sons of God” - According to John (Jn.3:16, 18, 1 Jn.4:9), God only has one son – Jesus. There is a lot of speculation of who they actually were. The literal original Hebrew translation for “Nephilim or Nefilim” is “Those who were cast down”. Most Christians claim they were fallen angels (demons), some claim they were angels and other claim they were Giants or an old alien race. There are some problems with this story and its claims. They could not have been demons, because their offspring became heroes and men of “renown”. The passage also says that they married. Would any woman marry a demon? Secondly, why would angels take women to be their wives? The correct question to ask, I think, is how did they take women to be their wives? They are from the “spirit world” and we are from the physical world. Do you think God gave them some time off for a holiday on earth? It could not have been giants, for obvious “physical” reasons when it comes to copulating. What we have to consider is that this story can be a legend from a far older time. In addition, that we have not considered all options available to us.

What is the issue that man was not allowed to live long lives any more? I thought God lived “outside of time” as an omnipotent God. Why does He care on how long we live? Was it to much effort keeping man alive for that long? But the time was set, 120 years. However, Ps.90:10 say’s it is only 70 years, and many people in the Bible (after this statement) lived far beyond either of these limits. For example Abraham's father lived to be 205 (Gen.11:32), “Shem” lived to be 600, “Arpakhshad” to be 438 and Shelahto be 433. Others also lived well beyond the limit.
